The Trip to Hokkaido

The Trip to Hokkaido

On Tuesday, we packed up our things and headed to Tokyo Station to catch the Shinkansen to Hokkaido. The Shinkansen is the infamous Japanese bullet train.

Pulling into the station

Our particular train goes as fast as 320km/hr (that’s 200mph). It was so fast! Service to Hokkaido just began in March, so the trains are new and pretty cushy. We definitely did a lot of “oohing” and “ahhing” over the speed and things flying by through the window.

Here’s a video of my husband being a nerd while I went to use the fancy Japanese toilet:

We made it to Sapporo, very happy for the relief from the hot weather of Tokyo; it’s clearly fall in Hokkaido. The following day was spent cycling around the city, drinking beer, exploring parks, and checking out the sites.

We also had a life-changing experience with soup curry! Did you know about it?! It’s so good!
